The Cathedral of Strasbourg is a beautiful, gothic edifice built in 1187 to 1439 with a 16th-century astronomical clock and rose window. It is considered the world's tallest building from 1647 to 1874 and still the sixth tallest church today. The walls of the cathedral keep a 1000-year history of luck and disappointment, victorious victories and unforgivable defeats.
What a wonderful cathedral!! The clock inside is really neat. I loved the nativity scenes and I'm so glad they were still up when we went in January. We climbed up the tower, which was a highlight of our entire vacation!

This is a must see location if you are within 100 miles. Strasbourg the old city is just incredible for old buildings and interesting sites. The Cathedral is very impressive from the outside and the inside is just Great. The altar and the backdrop are very well done. The stained glass is amazing as well. I walked to the top of the Cathedral and highly recommend doing this if you can. Great views and interesting views of the Cathedral as you climb.

The Cathedral is simply breathtaking—every time I visit the city, it's one of the first places I go. You can’t help but be in awe of its sheer size and Gothic grandeur. It’s one of the tallest cathedrals in Europe, and its detailed facade is like a piece of art in itself. Every inch seems to tell a story, and I find myself discovering new intricate details each time I look at it. The craftsmanship is just mind-blowing.Inside, the atmosphere is peaceful yet impressive with its towering columns and magnificent stained-glass windows. There’s something almost magical about stepping inside and feeling the history and spirituality of the place. If you’re up for it, climbing to the top offers a spectacular view over the city, and it’s definitely worth the effort for those panoramic views of Strasbourg and beyond! The area around the cathedral is just as special. The square is lively and full of character, with street musicians often playing, giving it such a wonderful ambiance. It’s a lovely spot to sit at one of the nearby cafés, enjoy a drink, and soak up the atmosphere. Whether it’s a sunny day or a chilly evening, there’s always something happening—live music, local artists, and plenty of people-watching opportunities. It’s more than just a historical landmark; it’s the soul of the city, where the past meets the vibrant present.

Absolutely beautiful! There is an amazing clock in the back right corner that does a little something every 15 minutes. It’s not amazing but it’s cute and fun to see if you’re around. The gift shop was great and some good finds for good prices. The nativity scene inside was absolutely gorgeous!

This was a beautiful cathedral in a beautiful city. Had such a great time. There is a little train right outside that you can take for 8 euro that will give you a tour of the petite France area.

Came over from offenburg Germany. It was a short drive. It was on a French holiday so I think it was extra busy. The cathedral was very pretty. You could walk around on your own. There was no English translations quite. If you get an app on your phone you can just shine it on the signs and it'll read it in English for you. It was a recording picking on every now and then to ask us to shush. Although I don't think we were being loud, the crowd was in the church at that time.

Behold the awe-inspiring Strasbourg Cathedral 🏰✨ A masterpiece of Gothic architecture, this iconic symbol in France stands tall with centuries of history. From its intricate facade to the panoramic views from the tower, every detail whispers tales of resilience and grandeur.

I have seen many Gothic cathedrals. But I was amazed by the beauty and grandeur of Strasbourg Cathedral. Its size is impressive, its stained glass windows lead to ecstasy. This is a masterpiece of medieval Gothic architecture.

I was surprised to discover that this is also a beautiful cathedral. It is not that far from the one in Paris. The line to get in (on the left of the front side) is for free but can get very long. The line for going up to the tower (on the right side) has a cost. Definitely recommended!

One of the beautiful gothic Romanesque church; looks majestic during the day and magnificent at night. Free entry into the church and get mesmerized by the astrological clock! Manage to climb the tower area with €8 fee. Nice overview of Strasbourg from the top. My Airbnb room also come with the nicest view of the tower.

This cathedral is absolutely the most beautiful thing I’ve seen since moving overseas! I mean how is that place even real? It’s larger than life and unbelievable beautiful! It’s huge and stands out at just about every corner in the central area of Strasbourg. It turns you into a little kid because as you get closer, your jaw literally drops and you have no words!

Very impressive cathedral. It is breathtaking to look up and realize how small we are. It is a very historical cathedral and 142 m high. It is for free to go up the stairs. The view has to be amazing. Unfortunately the queue on weekends especially sundays is too long. But the city has a very nice atmosphere. I liked and enjoyed it a lot.

The cathedral is breathtaking from every angle, with stained glass, spires, and intricate designs living every inch of the building. You won’t find yourself bored when visiting here. I waited for maybe a minute to get inside and did not have to pay. Niece inside you are free to walk around within the designated areas. If you are feeling in the mood, you can buy and light a candle in the cathedral. There is also two gift shops!

Absolutely beautiful but at the same time has to make you question the money and power of the church. It is a beautiful sight but the people could benefit in so many more ways than the enormous expense building.

Very impressive cathedral especially the stunning astronomical clock which is a master piece of engineering and is a must see if visiting. I highly recommend visiting again at night so you can see the most spectacular music and light show projected onto the exterior of the cathedral.

A wonderful cathedral, truly a work of art in every way. Entrance is free into the church, but a ticket of 8.5 euro to take the stairs up - which you must do, the views are spectacular {approx 300 steps up and 300 down, on a spiral staircase}. The clock at the back is a marvel to behold, from the 16th century. The church area is peaceful, take some time to sit and reflect no matter your religion.

The Cathédrale Notre Dame of Strasbourg is a magnificent cathedral in Strasbourg. It's tall and carries rich architectural heritage of historic France. The outside is full of intricate sculptures and details. Inside, colorful stained glass windows light up the place when the sun is out. You can climb up to the top for amazing views of the city and the ticket costs €8. It's a must-visit if you're in Strasbourg.

Exceptional views, beautiful architecture, in my eyes it is a must to visit during your stay in Strasbourg. Ticket is absolutely worth it, considering the effort to climb the way up. Inside the cathedral entry is free. The size, area, mosaics made me deeply think how much time and effort it took to create and build this miracle. Miraculous❤️..

This is a very important building and you need to visit it if you’re visiting the city of Strasbourg. Let’s say like this: one can’t say that he/she has been to Strasbourg without visiting this highlight of Strasbourg. Entering the Cathedral is for free. But climbing the stairs and going up to the top requires a ticket of 8 euros. And there’s a souvenir shop inside in your way of the exit. Very important architecture.

Absolutely mind blowing, when you try to see the height of this cathedral. Really really enormous with a beautiful astronomical clock adding more to its beauty. An absolute masterpiece of Gothic architecture. The interior is equally beautiful. We were here on Sunday so we could not explore it entirely due to the ongoing mass. On a sunny day, the rays which comes through the tainted glass windows just creates an aura. It feels divine here. Very beautiful paintings all over the glass windows, unlike any other cathedral.

Absolutely beautiful! If you are in Strasbourg, you must see it! The tower is very high, and there are many stairs to climb, so be prepared if you want to visit the tower as well. Entry is basically free, except for the tower, which costs 8 euros.

Lovely Cathedral and a must-visit when in Strasbourg. The cathedral is not open all the time for visitors, so one must check the timings before planning a visit. Also, there are a dress code (they don't allow dressed with exposed shoulders). The cathedral is lovely both from the outside and the inside. The astronomical clock is one of the highlights. Once can also climb the terrace for lovely views. The cathedral square is quite lively and totally worth visiting.

Wasn’t a huge fan of Strasbourg overall, but the cathedral is absolutely worthy of the trip; it is imposingly beautiful inside and out. You can see the cathedral from just about anywhere in the city and it’s still difficult to fathom the size of it once you’re upon it. It was stunning.

A very impressive cathedral! And this is coming from someone who has visited many. It's huge, historically impressive and the stained glass is possibly the best I've ever seen. And then there's the astronomical clock!! Read up on it or get a pop guide, then see it in person. It's truly a technical wonder!

Probably one of the most beautiful religious cathedral from France.Specific times to get inThe astronomical clock is impressive and has so many resources and surprises. The man speaking once in a while on the microphone to ask people to turn the volume down is the one making most of the noise.Go visit this landmark.

A unique cathedral in the center of Strasbourg with an amazing view of the city.Built around the 12th century this cathedral known for its impressive height, reaching 142 meters was completed in 1439.The south tower and its only tower was the world's largest building from 1647 till 1874.Small details hidden in its architecture makes this world heritage site worth visiting.PS: do not forget do visit the astronomical clock. Every day at 12:30 the rooster crows and apostles move around the clock.

This cathedral is just breathtaking. So large and beautiful at the same time. As beautiful outside as inside! A must visit if in Strasbourg.Especially the last sculpture of Mary, mother of Jesus, carrying her dead son’s body was really a strong experience.

A majestic building to visit if you're in Strasbourg. Its in the middle of the city and there's restaurants, souvenir shops, and other shops surrounding it. The tourism office and Batorama office are also right next to it. There's a light show at night but I'm not sure when exactly it starts and how long it lasts. You can climb up the stairs to the top but be warned that you should climb on an empty bladder/bowel as there is no toilet at the top. There is no stopping (as in a place to sit and catch your breath) on the stairs, you just have to go all the way up/or down. Its spiral almost all the way so you do get a little dizzy, take breaks in between by standing against the walls so others can walk past as its quite narrow. The entrance to the cathedral is free but to climb the stairs, its 8€ per person. They accept card and cash payment. They close at 8pm.

Even if you don’t like cathedrals, it is well worth the visit (free entry) to see the astronomical clock inside or to have a look over the town from the top floor. This experience will cost you a bit and require some hundreds of steep and narrow stairs, but the view is stunning. If you get lucky enough, you happen to be there during the part of the year when the facade of the cathedral is painted by light show. This is a yearly recurring show during summer evenings.

Stunning cathedral. Peaceful and cool inside, while you marvel at the architecture, sculptures, and stained glass. Don't miss the astronomical clock - it's main event is mid day but you will still see the characters move at the half hour. The lines can be long but change quickly. Be aware that you cannot go in without proper clothing - no tank tops / spaghetti straps, no hats for men - so be sure to check the rules before you set out for the day.

From July 18 - 19, 2024, my wife and I spent some time here three times. Initially, we visited it in the afternoon. And later, we visited it when it was all lit up at night. And the next day, we paid and climbed over 300 steps in a spiral staircase to a platform and observed its upper structure and the whole of Strasbourg.

The most conspicuous building in Strasbourg. It’s full of beauty and historical charm. There are lots things to see - external decorations, climbing to the top to have a great view of the city, internal decorations and carpets. Finally there is the Astronomical clock inside. The history of the cathedral reflects the history of the city which is breathtaking. In front of the church you can find lots of Noel markets in the holiday season in winter.

Nice cathedral in Strousburg. It doesn't compare to the cathedral in Cologne but with each town or city is the main cathedral. If you have a half an hour is worthwhile visiting. Take some pictures. You are allowed to take pictures inside the cathedral. No big crowds like the cathedral in Cologne.

Breathtaking. There are a lot of details to notice on the facade.Note the figures at the right hand door at the front facade. You'll find the devil, first appearing as a prince, but from behind you'll see the ugly.Inside you'll find the astronomical clock. Worth to await the full hour.

The Strasbourg Cathedral is an impressive landmark with its striking Gothic architecture and detailed carvings. The spire is particularly notable, standing tall over the city, and the rose window is beautifully crafted. Inside, the stained glass windows add a touch of color and history, and the astronomical clock is an interesting feature to check out. It's a worthwhile visit for anyone interested in architecture or history, offering a calm and reflective space in the heart of the city.
